PostHeaderIcon Top speakers and delegates see record participation at Urban Infrastructure Conference 2010

Gathering to discuss the over US$30 billion worth of urban infrastructure and development projects taking place in and around Hong Kong record numbers of delegates, sponsors and speakers are now attending the Urban Infrastructure Conference 2010. A panel of the top government, MTR and industry leaders will deliver high level presentations and expert analysis on technical aspects, partnering options and contractual and legal issues to hundreds of delegates. As the only forum where industry leaders can obtain the latest information on these major projects from a planning, design and construction perspective, the event provided a unique opportunity for anyone involved in the lifecycle of large scale infrastructure and urban development.

The conference gives the opportunity to learn about the latest developments and technologies, and also to network with government representatives, major infrastructure corporations, developers, urban planners, architects, consultants and contractors involved in these exciting projects. Due to controversy surrounding these projects and the unexpected number of delegates the event is closed to press making the event truly exclusive for sponsors and attendees.

PostHeaderIcon BuilTech Datacentre Conference 2010

Facility Media, Asia’s leading media company focusing on the industries of the built environment, has launched BuilTech Datacentre Conference 2010 in response to the swell in datacentre activity in Hong Kong and around the region. Banks, IT firms and large international organisations are moving into a renewed expansion mode in Asia and Hong Kong, but are questioning whether technology in the areas of cooling, power and data centre  management improved in the meantime. Beyond IT or engineering solutions, project and data centre owners are increasingly looking to business strategies that will drive the success of their facility, and making the right choices from now that will work for the future.

The BuilTech: Data Centre conference will teach you how the new generation of datacentres will be built and give you an opportunity to meet the people who are doing it. Learn about the dollars and sense of modern mission critical facilities.
Hot topics include:

• In-house vs outsourced options
• Cost benefit security issues
• Terrorist threat issues
• Disconnect between IT, construction, facilities
• Scalability and redundant space
• Risks of overcommitting to technology
• Current cooling and power technology
• New locations, what tier, how much
• New projects and who is behind them
• Pace of IT growth vs space and facilities capacity
• Power options and supply in developed and developing markets
• Trading floors: still treated like a data centre?
• Building and managing server rooms
• Next generation technologies and preparing for change

Facility Media conferences provide unparalleled opportunities for networking with industry experts and other end users, with our data centre events attracting a high proportion of multinational financial
institutions.

Facility Media Announced today that its landmark BuilTech Event will be transformed into a series of one day events to be held over the course of the year. By separating the conference into a number of smaller specialised events means that a greater depth of learning can be achieved in each of the topical areas while sticking to the popular one day format.

The events will be separated into four initial events kicking off with BuilTech Datacentres on March 17 in Hong Kong.  Events Scheduled for the remainder of the year include Builtech Energy, Builtech Building Controls and Builtech BIM.

For more information about the series please contact Sanna Nyman or Claire Saeki on +852 2851 9923.

PostHeaderIcon Facility Media Makes its First Foray into Social Media

Facility Media, the only Asia-based multi-service media company serving industries making up our built environment, made its first foray into social media in the wake of its second annual Outstanding Individuals in Industry Awards gala dinner, held 14 May this year. The decision to start a Facebook site was in response to the flood of enquiries from people wanting to see photos of themselves immediately and the ability of social media to publicise and create a community at the same time. "While many of the pictures will also be published publically on www.rfpmagazine.com and in our print edition, this is anotheravenue for people to be a part of RFP. As an invitation only group, there will be more information posted over the course of the year with elite events and information for RFP subscribers being posted online", said Ashford Pritchard, Managing Editor, RFP Magazine.

"Using something like facebook or twitter is just another way of fulfilling our mission to create a comunity of knowlege and contacts." said Claire Saeki publisher of RFP Magazine and MD of Facility Media.

To join the group and see the who's who of hte Asin property, building and design community under one roof, search Facebook for "RFP Magazine" and request to join.
